Ground breaking for solar farm on ash settling pond in Saxony ☀️💡

For our customer LEAG and their project developer EP New Energies, we are constructing a 17 MWp solar farm on the site of an industrial tailings pond in Böhlen (Saxony). The settling, corrosive soil with construction rubble and ash from the coal-fired power plant in the subsoil presents us with a special challenge. “In order to design the solar farm specifically for the special requirements of the area, we carried out static tests early on and took soil samples", explains Martin Kunz, responsible Project Manager at BELECTRIC.

Species protection also plays an important role in the construction of the system. For example, certain areas are exempt from construction works to protect the native sand lizard. At the same time, flower strips and stone-wood piles are formed.

Make sure to have a look at our press release.

We’d like to thank EP New Energies for the lovely photo.
