Photovoltaics on the water – why is that? ☀️🌊

Floating solar systems on bodies of water such as quarry ponds or reservoirs are very popular. There is a good reason for this trend:

🕊️ Floating PV systems do not compete for land with food or feed production. This minimizes conflicts around land use.

💡 Floating power plants can be more efficient than those on land because the solar panels are automatically cooled by the water.

💦 By covering the water surfaces, floating systems can protect against excessive evaporation. Therefore, they contribute to climate protection.

We have also put a number of PV systems on the water. In Israel, we are currently installing two more floating large-scale power plants with an installed capacity of 19 and 16.8 megawatts.
