PPAs, short for Power Purchase Agreements, are becoming increasingly important for ground-mounted photovoltaic systems. That is why today, we are answering the question of what a PPA actually is. 💡

🔴 P for Power Purchase Agreement
A Power Purchase Agreement is a contract for the supply of electricity. It is concluded between an electricity producer and an electricity consumer and includes conditions such as the negotiated prices or the volume of electricity to be supplied. In Germany, for example, PPAs enable the operation of solar farms without subsidies under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).

Last week in Warsaw, our Polish team signed a cooperation agreement with the Polish project developer Rawicom Consulting Services Sp. z o.o., which is part of Rawicom Group. Rawicom is currently developing systems with a total capacity of more than 3.5 GW. The contract was signed by Karol Chylinski (CEO of Rawicom Consulting Services) and Jaroslaw Smialek (Senior Director Project Development at BELECTRIC).

The cooperation between BELECTRIC and Rawicom will focus on the development of photovoltaic projects in Poland and the associated project rights.

We are already looking forward to taking the next steps together on the Polish market! 🤩

Three eventful days at the largest trade fair for renewable energies in the UK lie behind #teambelectric.

🤝🏻 It was a pleasure to make new contacts and have interesting conversations about #solarpower.

🛠  One of the highlights were the speaking involvements by our colleagues Brett and Louis on the topics of ‘Ehancing O&M’ and ‘Solar and (Co-Located) Storage: The Business Case Deep Dive’.

🌳 As a symbol of our strong partnership, we presented some business partners with certificates for tree sponsorships.

With the commissioning of a solar farm in Germany and a battery storage system in the UK, we have cracked two gigawatt marks! The almost 520 plants we have constructed worldwide add up to a total installed capacity of over five gigawatts. In our home market of Germany, we are also one of the first companies to install photovoltaic systems ☀️ with a total output of more than one gigawatt. This corresponds to a total area of around 1,400 football pitches with today’s technology, or roughly the output of the largest conventional large-scale power plants.

How are you and your company committing to ESG? 👈

We commissioned eight solar power plants with a total capacity of 128 MWp for our customer Low Carbon. Even though 2023 was the wettest year on record in the Netherlands and the massive rainfall in autumn affected the construction works, the smooth cooperation of all parties involved led to success. Our Operations & Maintenance team is now taking over, as BELECTRIC is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the eight projects. We also succeeded in securing a contract for another solar farm with an output of 17 MWp in the Netherlands. To date, we have installed more than 300 MWp of photovoltaic capacity in the country.

“The fact that Low Carbon selected us to construct these exciting projects speaks volumes about us and our project experience. We have been working successfully with our customer since the beginning of 2022 and look forward to expanding the partnership”, explains Dr. Thorsten Blanke, Managing Director at BELECTRIC.
