Fantastic news to kick off the year: We have secured the contract to build the largest solar farm in the Netherlands. With an installed capacity of 189 megawatts peak, Eekerpolder will also be the largest solar farm built by BELECTRIC in Europe.
Starting February, we are installing more than 300,000 modules on an area the size of 249 football fields for our customer @Novar, a developer of green energy systems. To guarantee the solar farm’s stability for its entire service life despite the clay and peat soils, #teambelectric is adjusting the substructure individually to the conditions on site. A V-profile with a triple layer coating is used to protect the structure from aggressive soil conditions.

Construction of a solar farm with an output of 189 megawatts peak (MWp) for customer Novar
Eekerpolder becomes the largest European project in BELECTRIC's history
Kolitzheim (Germany) –BELECTRIC, member of Elevion Group, has secured the contract to build the largest solar farm in the Netherlands. With an installed capacity of 189 megawatts peak (MWp), Eekerpolder will also be the largest solar farm built by BELECTRIC in Europe.
A real BELECTRIC success story is unfolding on an area the size of 249 football pitches in the Dutch province of Groningen. From February 2025 until May 2026, the German solar energy company will install more than 300,000 modules for Novar, a developer of green energy systems. With an impressive output of 189 MWp, Eekerpolder is not only the largest BELECTRIC project in Europe, but also the largest photovoltaic plant in the Netherlands.
“The Eekerpolder solar farm will become a milestone on the Dutch solar market. We are proud that Novar has entrusted us with the construction of this unique large-scale project. With more than five gigawatts of installed capacity worldwide and soon to be almost 500 megawatts in the Netherlands, we are underlining our role as one of Europe's most successful companies for ground-mounted PV”, explains Dr Thorsten Blanke, Managing Director of BELECTRIC.
Along the way, the BELECTRIC project team must overcome a special challenge: to guarantee the solar farm’s stability for its entire service life despite the clay and peat soils, BELECTRIC adjusts the substructure individually to the conditions on site. A V-profile with a triple layer coating is used to protect the structure from aggressive soil conditions. Once the system has been commissioned, BELECTRIC will take over the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the large-scale project in cooperation with Klaer, Novar’s O&M service provider.
Erik Nederhoed, Project Director at Novar, comments: “We are thrilled to partner with BELECTRIC for the construction of the solar farm Eekerpolder. Their proven expertise in large-scale solar projects ensures the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and innovation. Together, we are building not just a solar farm, but a cornerstone for the energy transition in the Netherlands.”
We have successfully commissioned the #Borrentin solar farm in the German Mecklenburgische Seenplatte region! Nearly 200,000 modules were installed for our customer Encavis over an area equivalent to 135 football fields. The photovoltaic system will generate approximately 121 gigawatt hours (GWh) of solar power annually, which will be used to supply energy to a network of electric vehicle charging stations.
One of our highlights: The completion of the large-scale plant increases the total capacity we have installed in Germany to over 1.2 gigawatts peak (GWp). This means solar plants built by BELECTRIC across the country now provide a nominal capacity equivalent to that of a nuclear power station. 💪
Commissioning of 114-megawatt solar farm near Borrentin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany
Total capacity installed by BELECTRIC in Germany surpasses 1.2 GWp
Kolitzheim (Germany) –BELECTRIC, member of Elevion Group, has commissioned a 114-megawatt peak (MWp) solar farm for its customer, ENCAVIS, a leading independent producer of electricity from renewable energies. The completion of this large-scale plant in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany, increases BELECTRIC’s total installed capacity in Germany to over 1.2 gigawatts peak (GWp).
BELECTRIC has successfully commissioned the Borrentin solar farm located in the German Mecklenburgische Seenplatte region. The photovoltaic system built for ENCAVIS will generate approximately 121 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of solar power annually, which will be used to supply energy to a network of electric vehicle charging stations. The rapid construction of this project demonstrates the exceptional collaboration between BELECTRIC employees on and off the construction site, the municipality of Borrentin, the landowner, and BELECTRIC’s customer ENCAVIS.
Thorsten Blanke, Managing Director of BELECTRIC, adds: “We are proud to have successfully commissioned this major project in Borrentin within such a short timeframe, thanks to the joint effort of our teams, our partner ENCAVIS, and all stakeholders. To date, we have installed over 1.2 GW of solar power in Germany. This means solar plants built by BELECTRIC across the country now provide a nominal capacity equivalent to that of a nuclear power station.”
Mario Schirru, CIO/COO at ENCAVIS, comments: “Together with BELECTRIC, the municipality of Borrentin, and the landowner we have delivered this project, installing 200,000 solar modules across an area the size of 135 football fields. By overcoming challenges collaboratively, we have increased our wind and solar generation capacity in Germany to 700 MW, which brings us a significant step closer to our goal of achieving 7 GW of capacity connected to the grid across Europe by 2027.”
At our annual company Christmas party, we looked back on a successful year together with #teambelectric and celebrated the dedication of our colleagues.
The event’s programme included a mulled wine reception ☕, honouring our jubilarians 🥇, a musical theatre play performed by our trainees 🔔, delicious food 🥙 and, as always, plenty of time for chatting and celebrating. 🎉
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our employees for their dedication and hard work in 2024. There's snow one like you! ❄️ Would you also like to be part of our legendary Christmas party next year? Then join the team!
Last week, we had the honour of welcoming the Academy for Territorial Development (ARL) in the Leibniz Association to our company as part of their nationwide symposium. Franz-Josef Sauer, Mayor of Arnstein, was also in attendance.
Combining science and practice, the academy researches topics relating to state and regional planning, from which planning and location specifications for our solar farms are also derived. ☀️📜
After a welcome from our CEO Thorsten Blanke, we gave the guests a tour of our in-house solar farm and the control room in our O&M. Another centrepiece of the visit was a discussion between the ARL and our Project Development team about the challenges faced by photovoltaic project developers like BELECTRIC.
We are happy about the ARL’s interest and that we could make the solar industry’s needs and hurdles heard in front of their representatives! 🤝
