As a leading provider of climate-friendly photovoltaic projects in Europe and Israel, BELECTRIC is dedicated to driving the energy transition. Sustainability is a top priority for us, which is why we continuously work to embed environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into our operations.
We want to become a true ESG champion and strive to go beyond legal requirements. We believe that enhanced efforts are needed to combat climate change, protect human rights, and promote social and environmental responsibility. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the UN Global Compact, we collaborate with stakeholders to drive meaningful change.

What we do for ESG
ESG is a top priority topic at BELECTRIC. We take several actions to implement them:
Environment
Our goal is to contribute to climate and environmental protection. We are measuring and reducing CO2 emissions as well as fostering biodiversity. Because we have only one world, and we should take care of it.

Corporate Carbon Footprint
In 2023, our Scope 1 and market-based Scope 2 CO₂ emissions totaled 1.566,53 tCO₂e, contributing to the Elevion Group overall carbon footprint of 14.962,7 tCO₂e. We are continuously developing and enhancing our methodology for calculating Scope 3 emissions — including individual emissions from solar plants construction and maintenance. All information about our Corporate Carbon Footprint is compiled in the ESG report 2023 of Elevion Group.

The Road to Decarbonisation
A key objective of our shareholder Elevion Group is to achieve climate neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2040, with an interim target of a 43% reduction by 2035. As BELECTRIC, we are guided by this objective. Furthermore, our holding company CEZ has its own validated Science-Based Target (SBT), which also serves as an important reference framework for our actions.

Protecting Nature
BELECTRIC’s ground-mounted PV systems support biodiversity by transforming intensively farmed land into long-term wildlife habitats. Our solar farms become safe havens for endangered species like birds, dragonflies, and bats, and reduce human impact. By partnering with experts, we strive for lasting positive impacts on biodiversity.

Social
At BELECTRIC, recognising and unlocking the full potential of each employee is a cornerstone of our success. We believe in fostering talent and nurturing growth for everyone, embracing all identities and backgrounds. By establishing diverse teams with a wide range of perspectives and abilities, we promote creativity and innovation.
Inclusive Environment
We prioritise mutual respect and support, ensuring an inclusive environment regardless of individual characteristics, origin, religion, ability, sexual identity, or orientation* – while maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination.

Initiatives for Women
At BELECTRIC, we champion equity through our flexible working hours model, remote work options as well as part-time models – including for executives. Every year, we use International Women’s Day to pay special tribute to our female colleagues and express our gratitude to them. Furthermore, we participated in Girl’s Day 2023.
Communication & Trainings
We are focusing on internal and external communication, continuously improving inclusive hiring practices, and developing trainings on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Female Representation at BELECTRIC
In 2023, women made up 29 % of our executive team across all countries: With this figure, we exceed the average for German medium-sized companies (26 %) and significantly outperform the German energy industry, which reported just 15.5 % in 2021.

Governance
For us, ethical behaviour is essential – in handling our workforce and across our whole supply chain.

ESG Evaluation Is the Key
BELECTRIC fosters a culture of zero tolerance towards human rights violations and ensures ethical conduct in all interactions with its workforce and across the value chain. Therefore, we annually evaluate human rights and sustainability risks across our operations and key procurement regions. We continuously improve the monitoring of ESG suppliers and our assessment of suppliers’ sustainability performance, as well as setting clear targets for sustainability assessment.
