BELECTRIC appointed as EPC contractor for large-scale solar project in India


  • Agreement signed with Cleantech Solar for a PV project with a total capacity of over 100 MW

  • Project will be delivered in three construction phases: The first phase of close to 50% of total capacity is already under construction. The entire solar farm is expected to be built within this year.


Kolitzheim (Germany) / Mumbai (India) – BELECTRIC, a Germany-based company, is further increasing its footprint in India’s ever-growing solar industry: the company has been appointed as the EPC (engineering-procurement-construction) service provider for a large-scale solar project by Cleantech Solar, a leading developer, owner, and operator of Commercial and Industrial solar energy systems in Southeast Asia and India.The photovoltaic (PV) project will have a total capacity of over 100 megawatt (MW) and will be delivered in three construction phases: the first phase of close to 50 MW is already under construction. The entire solar farm is expected to be built within this year.

BELECTRIC has been working closely with Cleantech Solar for the past few years and this is the eighth project on which both companies are working together. Other projects include two PV rooftop projects which rank with a combined capacity of 26 MW amongst Asia’s largest rooftop installations.

BELECTRIC is one of the world's leading EPC service providers in the development and construction of ground-mounted solar power plants and rooftop PV systems. BELECTRIC has 20 years of experience in power plant construction and to date has built almost 4 gigawatts (GW) of capacity worldwide. Its Indian subsidiary, BELECTRIC Photovoltaic India Pvt. Ltd., is one of the most established EPCs in the country. Since 2009, the company has been involved in solar projects in India with an installed capacity that is on track to reach 1.2 GWp by the end of March 2021. Last year, BELECTRIC delivered a 250 MW-AC solar plant for its customer Fortum on time and to a high quality. This project in Karnataka is the largest capacity installation BELECTRIC has carried out in India so far. After the successful delivery of the project, the company is now operating the solar plant on behalf of the owner. Another project of this size is also under construction for Fortum in Rajasthan and is scheduled to be fully grid connected in the second quarter of 2021.
