Every form of energy generation takes up land, fossil as well as renewable. With modern solar power plants, however, it is possible to combine the protection of land with the goal of energy production. Compared to coal-fired power or biogas, solar power plants require only a fraction of the natural area. In addition, new habitat for animals and plants is created under and between the rows of modules.
